The 8th International Conference on New Discourse in Contemporary China (NDCC)

The International Conference on New Discourses in Contemporary China is a series of academic activities organized by Chinese Association of Discourse Studies. The international conference has been held for consecutive seven sessions. The previous hosting universities are Nankai University (2006, 2009), Lancaster University (2008), Guangdong Foreign Studies University (2011), Nanjing Normal University (2013), Sun Yat-sen University (2015), East China Jiaotong University (2017). The 8th International Conference on New Discourses in Contemporary China will be held on October 18-20, 2019, in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China, by Linguistics Research Center of Dalian University of Foreign Languages.

We welcome submissions on the following theme and encourage experts and scholars in related fields to participate in the conference by delivering speech, attending panel discussion and other ways of exchange.

Conference Theme:

Multi-, inter-, trans-disciplinary Discourse Studies, including the following issues: 

1) discourse approach to news media;

2) discourse approach to international politics;  

3) discourse approach to social interaction;

4) discourse approach to national governance;

5) discourse approach to open-door practice;

6) discourse approach to social-media-based communication

Panel sessions:

Scholars who are willing to participate in the conference need to submit a Chinese or English abstract in the field provided (no longer than 500 words in Chinese, 300 words in English) to multilingual2018@163.com. Abstract submission is required by July 30, 2019. Please make sure that the submission includes the title of the paper, author's name, institution, professional title, address, postal code, telephone number, e-mail address and other personal information. The Conference Committee will invite experts to review the abstracts and send an invitation letter to the participants by September 15, 2019.

Other information:

Registration fee: 900RMB, and a 50% discount for participants with student ID. Accommodation and round-trip traffic costs are not included.
